What are the similarities and differences b/w Microsoft Sharepoint and SAP?

By nadackj ·
Do they have similar functionalities/abilities? Is sharepoint preferred for a small-scale implementation? Or, do they belong to completely different categories of software?

Nadackj,

They are different products for different purposes.

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) and the enterprise equivalent Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) are both in the Content Management System realm, which is a web-based organization and collaboration tool.

Microsoft SAP is similar to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) product, and falls into the accounting/financial/business management category. In simple translation, SAP is a powerful QuickBooks product.
