What can be done to speed up Win2KPro?

I have recently upgraded from NT 4.0 workstation to Win2KPro. The Win2KPro seems to hang when I try to access any network drive or other resource. Is there a method to speed up the process. The network I am attached to is WinNt 4.0 server based withstatic IP addresses.
