What happened to Internet Service in the NW Last Night?

By VA Admin ·
On Wednesday evening (12/9/09) from about 5-9pm high speed internet service on Vashon Island and in Gresham Oregon dropped to dial up speeds. My DSL provider in WA (Century Link) was so busy that I could only get through to the business support message box which said a fiber line was cut. The only report I could find this morning on the incident (possibly) was a brief note in the Sequim Gazette which actually refers to a break yesterday morning " Internet Service Provider, OlyPen, reports a fiber optic cable break between Shelton and Olympia Wednesday morning disrupting cable, fiber and some wireless service on the North Olympic Peninsula. There is no estimated time for repair."

Anyone know what really happened?
