What is a good backup program for ESXI hosts on Linux?

    Good afternoon all,

I am a newer guy in this field trying to figure things out. With the HP DL360e server I have access to in order to create a new backup system, all I have are 4 large-volume hard drives. Because of this, windows cannot be installed on that system since there is a 2TB limit on what can be used as a master boot record. I am trying to explore other options, and so far I’ve found that the performance decrease when trying to run the backup system through a virtual machine.

    2 questions:

Would I still see this performance decrease running Linux through an onboard SD card or flash drive?

If the speed is fine, is there a good Linux backup software that can connect to and backup an ESXi host/virtual machines on said host?

I have a couple of server with Vmware ESXi (free version) with local storage. At this moment I’m using ghettovcb for backup, but I would to have a more “safe” solution. The cheapest seems to be Uranium Backup. Do you have experience with that? Do you have any other tool to suggest?

I have been using the 3 backups for a while.
      1. Vinchin Backup & Recovery
This cloud-based backup system lets you choose to back up specific data stores and a list of applications, including VMware. Each service can have different backup settings. Get started with a 60-day free trial. You can check: https://www.vinchin.com/en/ for more information.
      2. Acronis Cyber Backup
Choose to backup single instances or entire VMware environments. Use the service to replicate or migrate as well as restore. This is a cloud-based service.
      3. Altaro VM Backup
A backup service specifically for virtual machines with a version for VMware and another for Hyper-V implementations. It installs on top of VMware virtualizations.

      Navigate to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin.
      Run this command to backup the ESXi configuration: # vicfg-cfgbackup.pl –server=ESXi_host_IP_address –username=root -s output_file_name For example: # vicfg-cfgbackup.pl –server=10.0.0.1 –username=root -s ESXi_test1_backup.tgz.
