What is an ERP?

by daya_hs In reply to What is an ERP?

ERP is nothing but Enterprise Resource Planning, you might be knowing this. ERP implementation is integration of all the department transactions into one. Basically ERP is used in major manufacturing industries, enterprises which will be having more departments and divisions.
for example: Hero Honda motars, They manufacture different kind of models and sell to the end user in various ways. The process of selling each bike to the enduser could be kept in track using Applications and customer details could be stored in database. Everything should be automatised from the making of bike till end user takes it and start using it. in case of hero honda motars we can easily assume various department like Marketing, production, customer support, technical department, finance, facility management etc are involved in delivering each bike. For each kind of department we need to develop particular software which can integrate with other applications. ERP implementation is involved in integration of all these departments using applications. If you still need any technical information regarding ERP goto http://www.sapindia.com. You can find enough amount of information.
if you need any kind of clarification you can approach me at daya_hs@yahoo.com
