What is HMI software?

By Rahulyadav1 ·
Human machine interface (HMI) software gives machine operators a way to interact with and manage a system. This interaction is through a graphical user interface (GUI), which facilitates information exchange and communication between two types of HMIs; a supervisory level and a machine level. https://www.quora.com/What-is-HMI-software

HMI(Human Machine Interface) is a tablet sized(similarly) industrial equipment which offers Graphical representation for controllers like PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) or Data Acquisition Modules .It offer monitoring and controlling of Process variables like level,Pressure,Flow etc., It is similarly like SCADA. But the thing is SCADA is only software, means SCADA need a computer to Run, where as HMI don't need a computer.
