Few months back I had lost a lots of data due to a ransomware attach. I had lost almost 10 years data. Anyway, I am curious to know what is best strategy to avoid such attacks and which software are recommended on windows 10 for this.

You only lose data you created or changed after your last backup. Sorry to read that your last good backup was 10 years ago.

Anyway, ransomware has to be installed on your system. Things that help to prevent it:
– run an antivirus
– keep Windows and applications updated
– only download and install trusted software
– never visit shady sites or click on shady links
– work in a non-admin Windows account whenever possible and switch to one of your two admin accounts (the regular one and a spare one for emergencies) only when needed
