What is the point of TR Insiders?

By jardinier ·
The PTB ask for our opinions. We offer our opinions and indulge in a little light banter along the way. Our opinions are ignored and the PTB proceed to do what they were going to do anyway.

Can anyone recall an instance or instances in which a suggestion from a TRI was actually implemented?

I can recall several instances, . . . . . .

by maxwell edison In reply to What is the point of TR I ...

....all of them, in fact, in which suggestions from TRI were considered by the PTB. I would never be presumptuous enough to believe that just because I suggest something, it should be automatically implemented.

View All Open Questions link

The Web designers at TR (the PTB) at one time decided to take out the View All Open Questions link. I requested that it be put back. Quite a number of TR members (TRI or otherwise) agreed. It was put back.

Merging Discussions and Q&A. . . . . .

Thanks for the feedback Max.

Of course I am a relative newbie to TRI. I guess it could be less than 12 months ago that Jay invited me to join the team.

But when you give those examples, possibly my voice has been heard also.

But that has been there for ages and it's just a teaser they don't want us to have a play yet so we can break it.

Aha ! So I was right after all.

Perhaps instead of asking for opinions which THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF IMPLEMENTING, the PTB could set up a direct marketing system so that we can all get RICH selling T-shirts with TOTALLY DUMB designs invented by the PTB.

Don't be misled - Q&A and Discussions stay separate

by Jay Garmon Contributor In reply to UM Maxwell have you looke ...

First, the teaser is out of date. Our Blog plans don't exactly match the supplied images.

Second, we're not merging the Discussions & Tech Q&A, we're merging the *hot & new lists* for each feature. Tech Q&A is changing rather significantly--based very much on TRI feedback--but not like that.

We'e also totally redesigning the purpose and function of blogs on the site--based partly on TRI feedback.

We're *FIXING SEARCH* based partly on TRI feedback.

We're modifying our tagging system so that there is more structure, based partly on TRI feedback.

We're combining Tech Q&A and Discussion posting forms--so the distinction is clear and the choice can be easily made--based partly on TRI feedback. We're also simplifying and merging the category lists of the two features--and allowing you to place a post in MULTIPLE categories--based partly on TRI feedback.

Oh, and after the revamp, we're making preliminary plans for a flat, chronological discussion view that places all the posts on ONE PAGE, based partly on overwhelming TRI feedback.

But, there is one catch--after revamp, the private TRI forum is going away. We'll be having these conversations out in the open. And we're working on a beta version of the site that might--MIGHT--be accessible to external beta testers. Because some TRIs asked for it.

Sorry if we weren't listening to you all.

I think you're always listening. . . . . . . .
