Been there, Done that, I'm back.....

by dawgit In reply to What is your view on life ...

I've had a head start on this (no, not by choice)
Yes, I've been Dead.!. and no I'm not dead.
Yes there is more after the physicle, earthly, known, life. (as we know it)
Reincarnation? I think so, but didn't get that far (yet)
Religion? Deity? Yes, but not quite as you expect. You'll just have to see for your-self. In the Bible, we're told that things will be explained to us in the after-wards. That it is just too much to comprehend. Totally right. It's ALL there, but I can't even imagine where to start to explain it.
Soul? Yours. In the after-wards, it's just you, not your body. And not any other body either.
****? Doesn't exist. Sorry, I really hate to dissapoint some of you Christians out there. But it just doesn't exist. (at least not for Humans anyway)
Theology? There is GOD.

As you asked

by Bob in Calgary In reply to What is your view on life ...

Life after Death: Our atoms return to nature and become part of other forms of life. Therefore there is life after death, it's a continual process.

Reincarnation: see above.

Religion: Used originally to keep the common people in line. Now used to make people feel "superior" over every other form of life on the planet.

Deities: May your god go with you. I am my own god.

Souls: Animal and/or Human: No difference we are all animals we just have greater? reasoning power.

Heaven & ****: Is what happens in your life, Heaven is looking at a new born baby, **** is loosing someone you love.

NB's views

by OnTheRopes In reply to What is your view on life ...

theology
1. The study of God and the truthfulness of religion in general.
2. An organized method of interpreting spiritual works and beliefs into practical form.

Life after Death
Is there life after death? I?m convinced, yes. I'm not interested in "proving" it to anyone.

Religion:
From what I?ve seen I don?t think that any particular religion has it ?right?. It?s that or there is just one that is ?right? but people throw their allegiance behind some interpretation and that interpretation isn?t quite right.

When ANY religion is subverted to pit man against man for any reason is when I believe it has gone wrong. I believe that it is any individual?s right to practice the teachings of any religion without persecution. If you choose to have no religious beliefs I think that is your right as well.

Reincarnation:
If reincarnation is what comes after this life I hope it?s a choice. Life can be a pain in the a** but maybe I?d choose to come back just to see a smile on a dog, to feel a warm breeze on a perfect day or just for the entire ?trip?.

It?s possible that I already did choose, maybe even several times already. I don?t know and can?t prove it but there is interesting evidence supporting reincarnation.

Deities:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_deities - I had no idea there were so many of them. I?ll refrain from comment until I know more.

Souls: Animal and/or Human
I don?t think the ?end? of this life is THE end. See Life after Death above.

Heaven & ****:

****:
I have a hard time believing in the possibility that I could?ve been created out of ANY God?s love only to burn in any **** for eternity.

Heaven:
I think my notion of heaven isn't even fully understood by me. I don't think any one has it quite right. Shag carpeting would feel better on the feet.

What I think

by AV . In reply to What is your view on life ...

On life after death: I think that death, as we know it today, only describes the physical body. The ethereal body is eternal. Life goes on in a different way on a different plane of existence after physical death.

Reincarnation: I think life is about the education of your soul on each plane of existance. If you fail as a human being, you will come back until you get the lesson of your life right.

Religion is an option. You can choose what you want to believe in your heart of hearts or you can listen to the collective opinion of like-minded people. Its a security blanket.

Deities are people that are inspired from their soul. I don't know that they are closer to God though.

Every living thing on this earth has a soul and feelings. Animals have souls. They have personalities too. There are different levels of souls. Humans can exercise free will and make a difference.

Heaven and **** is a choice. You don't have to wait till the afterlife to live in ****.

From my perspective

by Mickster269 In reply to What is your view on life ...

Life after Death: I dunno. I don't remember being dead. So I really can't tell if there is anything after my body calls it a day.
Reincarnation: I would have to suspend a lot of disbelieve to agree with this.
Religion:Buddhist. Go Figure.
Deities: None.
Souls: Animal and/or Human: A Judeo/Christian/Muslim concept. I don't subscribe to this concept.
Heaven & ****: I'm not "going" to either, in that I don't believe they exist.

Bottom line... I think that when I die, my organic body will be either consumed in flames ( if my son follows my instructions), it will be donated to science (which is probably a better idea), or rot into the ground (which I don't have any rational reason why that would happen).

But this is all conjecture... to the best of my knowledge, I've never died before, and I don't agree with the concept of a 'Soul'. If I am wrong, I just hope whomever is charge of the afterlife gives me a break.

"Life after birth ....

by jardinier In reply to What is your view on life ...

is more important than life after death."

That gem of wisdom was delivered some 40 years ago by a Professor Emeritus of Biology who was also a Christian.

Maybe I'll post in more detail later, but I think that one little maxium sums it up rather neatly. Whatever there may be after death, the best way to prepare for it is to do the best job we can of being a decent human being while we are in this corporeal world.
