What kind of network kit can i get?

By Ammar ??? ·
I have HP Pavalion 7370 with a Kingston EtheRx Client PCI network card connected to Alcatel 1000ADSL modem.

I have another computer Compaq Preserio 9548, and it doesn't have a network card.

My question is can i use the Linksys EtherFast 10-100Network in a Box to connect my my dsl modem to my two computers or do I need to get a dsl router?

theres 2 easy ways to do this... of you have static ip's from your dsl serice you can set each w/ unique public ip and plug dsl in uplink on hub.... if not you need to use internet connection sharing, set your 2nd nic in the hp to share the connection and tell the compaq to look to the hp address for the gateway - email me with further address questions...

I'm not familiar with the Linksys product, however if you want to hook up your presario you can install a nic in it tnen install a second nic on your hp. network them together with a 4port hub. If you don't want to get a hub get nic's with 10base2 connectors and just use a single length of 10base2 wiring and wire the presario to the 2nd hp.

Use proxy software on your hp and voila both boxes will be on the net. Winproxy a shareware product excels at this.

Note: This may be contrary to your service agreement.
Note: This is a lot easier than it sounds.
