What alternatives are you considering for what purpose? For example, magnetic tape is a good medium for backup in a data center.

SSDs are generally faster than things like HDDs. The main downside is the price.

SSDs are considered better than traditional hard drives because they offer faster data access, greater reliability, and lower power consumption. They have no moving parts, making them less prone to mechanical failures, and their faster read/write speeds result in quicker boot times and file transfers. The durability and performance advantages make SSDs a top choice for modern computing needs.

SSDs are harder to break than a HDD and it’s slim and portable along with more efficient power consumption and faster. SSD are overall just better at everything.

The benefits that you can get in SSD than other alternatives are that it is faster and quicker, it is more durable and is energy-efficient, can handle heavy loads well and doesn’t heat up fast than other alternatives that we currently have in our society at the moment.
