What models of video recorder use this specific remote?? The brand is SHARP, that's all I know. Please share this with all your family, friends and relatives so that we can get to the bottom of this ASAP.

Check the following link for a photo of the remote that I'm referring to as I can't figure out how to add a photo to this post;

My suggestion....

First of all, I have no clue as to which video recorders it is used with. Your best bet would be to look for a label in on the remote to determine the model of that remote. Once you find it, do an internet search for the remote model. If an internet search fails, attempt to contact the manufacturer online. I seriously doubt anyone on this forum will be able to definitively answer your question.

Why do you think this is a remote for a video recorder? It doesn't look like it at all.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. My Grandparents used to own a video recorder and it had an identical remote to this except that it also had the record button on it.

I'm hoping that I can figure out what model used that type of remote because I have many fond memories of using it in the years before my Grandpa passed away so it would really mean a lot to me to be able to track one of these machines down. Thanks.

After a closer look.....

I think that is a VCR remote and that would explain why there is no record button on it. On some old VCRs you had to record from the player itself and not from the remote control.

The picture is too low quality.

Try getting a high quality shot and share any markings on the unit that may reveal the remote model number.

-> But maybe you left out why you need this. I would be guessing you have tapes from the recorder you want to play.

You don't need a specific remote to play a "tape" from a video player. The base unit would still have its own controls. You also would not need a specific brand of device to play a recording from, only a compatible device.

The Devil is in the details.

I had old Hi-8 tapes that were extremely picky about playback. Not all camcorders could play them. Over time I digitized them all and made no more due to how awful this system was.
