Hi Everyone,
I’m currently working on my internship at a company that has never had a real IT consultant. In the past, they had hired a network administrator to come and do what he can in regards to the network in the course of a couple of days, but as far as the hardware computer issues, one of the managers here does what he can and if he runs into a problem he calls up the network tech that comes here for any of those issues. In regards to software issues, they have a service agreement with the software service providers, so if there is an issue, they call the software techs at that company. Sometimes they even call about things like not being to print to a printer that is on the server. I don’t want to come off as being arrogant or annoyed, but those are issues that I can deal with and they don’t even think about coming to me. I guess, they’re use to the norm and not having a computer tech on premise. I’m almost done with school and they company wants to keep me, my problem is, I’m not really sure, what I should be doing as an IT consultant. What should I be doing on an everyday basis? Monthly? Ect? Any advice would help. Please keep in mind this is a small business with probably 20 users on a win2k server. I definitely would like to stay with the company but I also want to be efficent in my position, especially since I’ll be the first person at this company with this position!
Thanks!
