by RonOnline In reply to What you like in Gmail? Y ...

I love
1) The ease of intergration with Outlook Express (they have a small download that does it all for you.
2) The ease of importing your contact list from outher e-mail clients such as Outlook Express.
3) Speed, Speed, Speed - when using Outlook Express and on the Web.
4) The new e-mail Notifier.
5) The unclutterd presentation of your mail on the web site.

In another post I asked for another invite for my wife, but if you have a spare invites please send one to my Scots friend James Sidey jsidey@hotmail.com

One bonus

by Oz_Media In reply to What you like in Gmail? Y ...

Large file transfers.

I can send a 10MB email from home but nobody else can receive it.

GMail allows 10MB file transfers/sending.

I just upload it to a generic account I created and give the recipient login info and they can download it withouth haveing their own gmail acocunt, not everyone likes Gmail and they don't want ANOTHER online email address, but it works great for transfering demos and large graphics.

Other than that, it's just another online email system. NO faster than Excite, which is what I usually use for website signups, surveys, etc. this keeps my residential inbox clean, I have had at MOST 2 spam mails at home in the last few years this way. Excite has it's junk filter that works pretty good, I usually only have 2 or 3 junk mails slip through.

gmail monitoring

by Sitizn Wille In reply to That, it is

Gotcha..

Thought there was something new I didn't know about.
I am not sure what I think about the monitoring on Gmail. What exactly do they monitor. I thought it was just to pick up and key words to display an add. Do they use it to spy on ppl?

I wouldn't care

by Oz_Media In reply to gmail monitoring

I would never send anything that was illegal or private through an online email system.

If someone wants to steal a raw demo track and pipe it off on Kazaa? Thank you very much, initial promo is too damn expensive anyway. The faster your tracks hit the street, the lower the promo costs are because people want it in their stores and don't have a bargaining cihp.

As for ads and other large promo files I transfer, print a bunch off and tell your friends to buy tickets too!

I am in an industry where artists require very little protection against such things, in most cases they benefit. They have full copyrights to music so as long as people aren't redistributing it at a store, thay don't care.

I do use a private FTP server or send private mail from a secure server though.

Reason to not read mail.

by tbragsda In reply to I wouldn't care

.
The real reason to not care about email security is, reading peoples emails is dull.

The personal details of most peoples lifes is soo dull that reading about it in poorley composed mail is less than you would expect.
