Where Can I Get Linux?

By Ellegua ·
I've never worked with any OS except Mac or Windows. I'm interested in acquiring a copy of Linux and because everyone says that it is an open source/free OS, I would like to know how to get it and put it on one of my machines at home. Can anyone help me?

Where Can I Get Linux?

There are several places you can get Linux Os. Thgere are several "Flavors" as well.
At the heart, Linux is Linux, is Linux. However, there are several distribution companies that have put together a set of packages and installation software, starting from the red hat ( for the inexperienced users ) to the Debian or Suse packages ( for the experts. ) While the O.S. is free, each of these companies supply there own mix and programming and the actual cost ranges from $20.00 up to $60.00. You should be able to find it in any software store or good book store.

If you really want it for free, then you can download it from the internet.

Try this URL :
www.linux.org

It will give you all the information you could hope for before you make a purchase or download.
