Where is password stored on a computer

i want to know that when logging on to a site , then it prompts a message "remember your password and id on this computer" . if we say yes then where is the password and id stored in the computer. now if i want to delete it , which file or registry entry i must delete, so that in future it doesnt shows my id or password when i click on password field or id field.

This is stored as a 'cookie.' Where that file is located depends on which browser you were using when you logged on to the site. Many browsers have the ability to open a window where one can toss their cookies 8^)

While some website data is stored in cookies, the passwords that IE remembers for you are not stored in the individual web site cookies.

The passwords, along with the typed url history is stored in various .dat files

For W98, this file is in the Windows\Temp folder

This is normally a system hidden file.

It is also normally locked so that you cannot access it to review or edit the contents.

Clear it!!!

No matter where the passwords reside,you can clear them completely.
Internet Explore>Tools>Internet Options>Contents>AutoComplete>Clear passwords.
