Which company has had the best impact on IT?

By jasonhiner Moderator ·
The TechRepublic poll question for the week of 9/26/2005 is "Which company do think has had the best impact on the use of information technology over the past two decades?
Apple
Microsoft
Google
Cisco Systems
IBM"

Let us know which company you chose and why. Or, if there's a different company that you would choose, name that company and explain why you think they had the best impact.

Cause they create all the packaging boxes with logos that the computers come in.

A close second is Inland-Temple Paper cause they make the paper that we print reams of in the "paperless offices."

Assuming we really mean "Best". Bell labs is the winner, hands-down.

But if we really mean "biggest" then Microsoft edges out IBM.

Yes I would have to agree here

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Unix and C

Unix was by far the best thing that has so far come out of any company to help society today.

MS on the other hand has undone all the great work that was done by these people who developed Unix as you needed to know how to actually use a computer back then. Now there are trained chimps being paid with bananas using Windows boxes and complaining that they don't work right.
