Which drivers to look for

By daveboyle24 ·
I am looking to load a machine that came with Vista, I have found all the device drivers necessary however it is a Sata HDD. I have read the articles about SlipStreaming the drivers into the installation cd which I have the general idea of. The only problem is that I have no idea where to get these drivers or maybe it is just that I don't know what I am looking for. The system is an Acer TravelMate 5710, I have contacted Acer and they are no help of course. Does anyone have any experience in this area that can help me?

Well I wouldn't expect Acer to be of any use here

Unless of course you are demanding a Refund for a product that is unsuitable for your needs.

What you want here if it is necessary is called a RAID Driver by Acer but it may not be necessary. Now many Bois's support a SATA Drive that can be loaded without a SATA Driver. Basically if you can see the SATA Drive in BIOS you are very likely to be able to load XP Without a SATA Driver.

If you do need a SATA Driver use nLite to make your Slipstreamed Install CD nd if you have AC97 or Derivatives Sound Card include the Sound Drivers as well here as this needs to be installed before you connect tot he Windows Update Web Site.

nLite is available for download here

If you do use this make sure to read the directions on their Web Site here

Basicially I would Suck It and See if XP will install without any intervention first. It just may save you a lot of messing around looking for something that doesn't exist.
