Which platform for an AIRBNB type online business. Magento2, WordPress,PHP?

I am creating an online real estate company that is similar to AIRBNB. The partners are debating over which platform to use. My CEO wants the platform to be in Magento2. After talking to professional friends, they say WordPress or PHP is better.

Other professionals told me ” Why would you want to use Magento? That is ideal if you had 1000 products shipped from 2 dozen locations. Magento is more complicated, expensive, and fewer developers use it.”

The website should have the features and functionality that AIRBNB has. Please give me your opinion if you are knowledgeable. Thank you.

All those tools mentioned can do the job. WordPress the last time I looked is written in PHP.

Back to your choice. The CEO likely pays the bills so you can opt to take the job or not.

I am not applying for a job. I am trying to convince my CEO not to use Magento, and have the website on another platform. TY

Let’s look at Airbnb’s STACK!

“Programming languages — Ruby, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
Application Framework — Ruby on Rails
JavaScript Framework — React.js
Automation Frameworks — RSpec, Capybara, PhantomJS
SQL data storage — PostgreSQL
Key-value storage — Redis
Web server — Nginx
Web application server — Puma
Hosting — Amazon Web Services (AWS)”

With all the other items in the stack it won’t make any difference in overall effort and in fact may make it worse if your developer is forced to specific stack elements.

Also, if you are not on the dev team or the CEO, COO etc, why not let them do their job?

Start From WordPress

If you guys are in the starting phase my advise is to start with WordPress, you can always move to other platforms according to the number of services or traffic or functionalities you want to add later on in the process.
