Question

Which type of Web app?

By rvmaher ·
Hi all, my first post and looking for some advice, so please be gentle :-)

My business uses a serious amount of paper and my staff are continually filling in forms, charts, records etc. I aim to get them all onto tablets for this reason, but also so we can archive everything electronically which we need to maintain for 6 years for legal requirements. Currently I have a large room full of boxes of the stuff!

Any way, I believe I could run a web server and either create a web page for the forms which feed back to a database, or go down the Webview/WebApp route. I'm thinking a web page although I may want to add additional functionality further down the line, adding photos etc. All on android devices.

My skillset includes HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and a bit of Sql and a few other web development tools. Should I stick to what I know and create everything in the browser, or would you recommend I further my skillset first and go the route of a hybrid web app? I heard Ionic may be a good framework to use.

Any advice or direction towards what I should learn would be greatly appreciated.

Ta.

Native app with your skillset

Check out Appzio (appzio.com)

With your skillset you can develop native apps and they have ton of ready stuff, so you don't really need to spend your time reinventing the wheel.
