A few things to do to sort this problem out....

When booting your computer make sure to go into your BIOS first and select the USB section and make sure ALL of the USB's that are listed in there are "Enabled" (you might need to have a PS/2 keyboard to do this as your USB keyboard might not be activated before hand), if and when you do this make sure to "Save settings" and then reboot.
Your computer can not handle a USB keyboard, you might need to update the BIOS to add on this application so that you can use your USB keyboard.

Most systems can use a USB Keyboard

Even though they fail to see them till after the OS is loaded.

What you need to do here is enter the BIOS and change the setting to Halt on all Errors to Halt on No Errors and then as you exit the BIOS Save the changes.

I would also do as suggested above and alter any USB Setting to ON/Active/Enabled or whatever you have available but with most M'Boards with PS2 you'll not have a functioning Keyboard till the OS loads so if you need to make any changes int he BIOS or reload the OS you'll need a PS2 Keyboard.
