By nc-tschimma ·
In W2k-Computerverwaltung you can see how many clients are using a networkfolder.
How can i find out who ist using this resource?

Using the Computer Management Tool on the computer that is hosting the shared resource, open Shared Folders | Open Files. This will list all shared resources (files and folders) currently being accessed. However, this does not provide any history,ONLY current access. To capture a history, you would have to enable auditing on the specific resource(s) you want to track.

This is not fully thruth. Connect to a share with an other account (no this you are actually connectetd, or the actually account with an incorrect password) and the counter in connections to shared folder will go up without "Open Files". If you haveany Password policies like "3 false login then close account" you could disable yourself with any login. The explorer will try to connect you with an incorrect password to a resource. This occurs maybe after a password change. ;-)

In Computer Management, expand the Shared Folders and then click on Open Files. This will tell you who is using what resources.

you asked how to see what clients are using a network folder resource. That is what we both answered. You apparently wanted more information than you asked for. I am still not sure what it is you want exactly.

Very simple. I want to know who has established a connection to a networking resource - not to a file, that`s the difference.
