Why are non-USA members' "no location specified"

By JohnOfStony ·
When I joined TechRepublic, I supplied all the information required, including location, so why is my location given as "no location specified"? Is TechRepublic so insular that it's unaware of countries other than the USA and so if TR can't find a location within its USA database, it automatically puts "no location specified"? Come on TechRepublic, get real - there's a whole world out there full of people involved with computers, many of whom are members and HAVE specified their locations.

SPECIAL! :^0 Just kidding. (and, no, I don't need any of the "yeah, you're special" jokes. :) )

I do know that some of the other countries show up in location. Maybe instead of coming down on the site why don't you ask the powers that be why some do not show up?

If MY location shows up

then anyones location can show up.

Must have been one of the glitch days.

Go back in and edit your profile and see if it will take it now.

Geography

by Ed Woychowsky In reply to Why are non-USA members' ...

Most Americans are really bad with geography and therefore confuse easily. To give an example, I live in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and receive calls from headhunters for ?local? positions, in Wyoming. Although in their defense they at least got the right planet.

Hey, at least you're on the planet.....

by gadgetgirl In reply to Geography

according to the location part on TR, I'm not!! :_|

(UK, btw, and proudly so.....!!)

NeilB and I have kept on trying to change locations in our profiles in case it was glitchware, but no, it just doesn't want to know us.....

Waaaaaaagh!! :_|

I'm in the USA

And "No location specified".

This only worries me when I think about it- I can still check my drivers license to figure out who and where I am...

Seriously, there is a glitch somewhere. I'm over it now. :)

did you select a state?

by jdclyde In reply to I'm in the USA

it won't show if you don't.

Once you choose a state, the rest of fair game (as my NEW location shows!) :^0

Yeah but

by Tig2 In reply to did you select a state?

I don't think TR likes me! *sniff*

Either that or Minnesota is no longer a part of the US??? I personally refer to it as that "Wintery H3ll I Live In"

And yes, I noticed earlier that you are no longer in the Land of Confusion. Cute!
