Click on Start > Settings.
Click on Network and Internet
You are led to the Network status Here, click on Change adapter options.
You get to see the Network Connections window that lists out all LAN, Wi-Fi or VPN connection you have.
Right-click on VPN connection and select Properties.
In the Properties window, select Networking tab > Internet Protocol Version 4 followed by Properties
Select Advanced. Here the Use default gateway on remote network should be unchecked.
Close all intervening windows.

if you want to troubleshoot internet connectivity issue that has occurred after installing VPN the try to take the following actions;
1. You should try to Ping an external IP such as 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 to verify that you have an active internet connection.
2. However, if you get to know that the main issue is DNS related in the “reply” of ping command then try to DNS issues.
3. In case, you don’t get any reply such as “Request Timeout” then it indicates there is an obstacle for VPN connection.

The issue could happen when you configure the VPN connection as the default gateway on the remote network. The VPN settings override the default gateway settings (TCP/IP settings). It uses the default gateway setting on the local network for Internet traffic.

Also when this happens you it can be caused by your Antivirus, so you can exclude VPN in your antivirus settings and see what’s goining on.
