I have a 1.5Ghz HP Laptop nc4000 running XP SP3. It works fine with everything except Skype after v2.5. v2.5 just works.
When I load later versions they freeze the PC as soon as I start to use Skype and only a hard reboot will recover it. Not cntrl-alt-delete even. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it freezes with an oscillation on the speaker output. When I reboot the desktop background is white and the computer asks if I want to restore my active Desktop. I do.
Is this behaviour anyone recognises with a known fix? Skype help is not.
Its a bit crucial for me as Skype are mailing to say they will soon stop v2.5 working, maybe a clue there………. what changed that breaks my PC?
REALLY grateful for any ideas.
