Why does Vista cause IE to quit everytime I exit a dialouge box?

Sooooo annoying!! So, for instance I’m replying to an email via Exchange. When I hit send, I get the error “Internet Explorer has stopped working” immediately followed by “Internet Explorer restarting” and I’m taken right back to my home page. This happens whenever I close any dialouge box within any website – how do I fix this?

Assuming you’re on IE7 try either resetting IE to it’s default configuration, or removing the OWA plugin/activex control if OWA requires one…

(i’m not certain OWA requires an activex control as we aint using it at our business but this solution will be worth looking at anyway as it maybe the simplest quickest fix)

      remove installed plugin for IE:-

Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > manage add-ons

Find anything sounding relevant to an OWA active x component and delete. Restart IE7 and revisit OWA for the IE components to re-install a fresh.

      Totally reset Internet Explorer:-

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

In there at the bottom is a button to reset IE7 to it’s original configuration, like you only just installed it. It will remove any plugins etc, but this maybe just what you need as you may have one in particular messing everything up. Re-add your toolbars etc one by one, or just a handful of known and trusted proven ones, like google toolbar for instance. Test for the issue as you re-add IE plugins etc

If neither of these work it maybe well worth doing a spyware and AV scan on your system, and further maybe check logs on exchange to see if the error is a server side issue.

      Hope this helps!!
