Why doesn't anybody rate answers?

By master3bs ·
It seems that very few answers to people's questions ever get answered around here. Certainly most of mine haven't, and looking around that seems to be very common.

Granted I've only answered a handful so far. My answers that have been have been rejected, and that's good. If my answer didn't contriubute to the solution I need to know that. I'd rather be rejected and know what answer worked than be in limbo.

hitting on a topic that has long been a bone of contention.

most of the members that are here regularly have complained about this issue.
apparently TR is working on revamping the TQ&A to kill unanswered questions so that they get closed.

just how, is yet to be publicised, but we members have given a number of suggestions to TR about it.

Yes, we're working on it

The gears of change are turning, however slowly. Improving Tech Q&A is a personal priority of mine, and I'm fighting for the resoruces needed to rebuild the system. This includes closing loopholes that allow users to duck out of closing and rating questions with no negative consequences. We may not be able to prevent these abuses entirely, but we are working to ensure that those who commit them are properly flagged for their lazy or counterproductive behavior.
