Wii vs PS3

By liza561 ·
I was thining about getting a Wii because the Wiimote looks like it is something really neat and innovative. But I recently read an article that talked about Nintendo's lack of titles:

The article talked about how Nintendo has not really been able to bring out as many games as Sony over the last couple generation of consoles. I am now considering the PS3 because Sony will probably have more games.

Get a Wii and an XBOX 360

by sMoRTy71 In reply to Wii vs PS3

Having played all 3 consoles (Wii, PS3 and XBOX 360) and owning 2 of them (Wii and XBOX 360), I would suggest getting the Wii and the 360 (for about the same money as a PS3).

The Wii is incredibly fun and the gaming experience is unlike anything you'll find on other consoles.

Of course, it isn't as powerful as the other consoles (since it is trying attract casual gamers who want to have fun). That's where the 360 comes it.

The 360 has more games than the PS3 (since it has been out a year longer), the same HD gaming options and XBOX Live (which Sony can't come close to).

I've had the Wii for almost 3 months now and I still find myself playing Wii Sports almost every day.

We actually have all 3 consoles in the TechRepublic office here in Louisville. The Wii is played every day. The PS3 has been turned on about 10 times.

I wouldn't worry so much about titles

by jmgarvin In reply to Wii vs PS3

The only title worth anything on the PS3 is Resistance: Fall of Man and NBA 07. The rest of the titles are pretty lame.

The Wii is just stupid fun. You'll find yourself going back to Wii Sports over and over and over. The Zeldas are a blast too. Rayman is fun too and just weird. There are other titles that have gotten great ratings, but I haven't gotten around to them, Wii Sports is just too damn fun.

True that

I have both a PS3 and a Wii, and I so far have three games for the Wii, and I've rented only for the PS3 and downloaded demos - no buys, yet.

The high definition of the PS3 is stunning, and I'm going to take advantage of the Blu-Ray capability soon. I have the Blu-Ray releases of the first two Pirates of the Caribbean movies on pre-order with Amazon, due to ship in May around the time of the third movie's release, but I'll have other Blu-Ray titles before then.

But like you've said, the Wii is just stupid fun. I rented Rayman, and I like it, so it's a consideration for the purchase list. Second Opinion is a good one too. Wii Sports is addicting, same with Wii Play (okay, bump that previous count to 4 games for the Wii).

Right now, nothing for the PS3 has really caught my attention, except maybe Resistance, but the demo is good enough for now.

But Sony has a reputation for putting out big titles, and the PS3 will definitely follow that lead. Kingdom Hearts III (rumored right now, but heavily suggested) will be on the PS3, same with Final Fantasy XIII -- two huge franchises that have pulled a lot of sales. Tomb Raider is releasing a PS3 game soon, God of War 3 will be on the PS3 as well, and I'm sure there's more to come that'll be just awesome. Just look at all the huge titles that came out for the PS2, including Ratchet and Clank (those games were awesome). Speaking of which, I hope they make a R&C for the PS3.

So while the pickings aren't good right now for the PS3, just wait. I hope the Wii pickings won't go the same way as the GameCube with a few good ones and the rest as just "okay".
