Wild Tangent

By TABComputers2002 ·
In the past couple days, WILDTANGENT has shown up in my systems (2000pro and XP Home). It was found running Spy-bot. Does anyone know just what this program is and if I can just get rid of it or is it something important. I remember seeing it on my old 98 machine.

Thanks for your help
Tim

Wild tangent is usually installed by other software (games, MP3 players, OEM installes etc,). If you don't play online games you can ditch it.

If it doesn't appear in your ADD/REM progs. You can get removal instrucs here:

Just scroll down the alphabetical page until you see Wcmdmgr.

This one had me a few years ago to. 60 Compaq deskpros on a network, ALL running Wild Tangent!!

NOTE: Instead of using the ULTIMATE TROUBLESHOOTER, just use Adaware after removing the Control Panel Applet. (should also be able to find it in Win/Sys32 folder with cpl extension.)

If you can't find the program in add/remove programs to uninstall it then use a program to CW_shedder to remove the spyware program. WildTangent is a web plug-in that contains spyware. Its used for some macromedia presentations (flash and shockwave) and java appelets. Usually downloaded in order to get some web page function to work correctly ie Online games, web video, mp3 player imbedded in web browsers etc.
