I can't find the drver for MSOPL.drv which unfortunately is on the WIN98 SE disk which I can't find. cann anyone help me? Once I find them I can load my Crystal cs4231A KQ sound chipset. When I click on "new hardware" is when I need the MSOPL.drv; DRIVER16.cab

Hi, your crystal audio chipset is by cirrus logic. Go to www.crystal.com/drivers/
You can search this driver database by manufacturer (whoever your computer manufacturer is). Or, on the site is a link to windrivers.com which carries most of the drivers you would ever need. Also, on this same page, cirrus offers "generic" drivers that will work with most of its hardware. You should be able to find what you need with these options. Hope this helps.

You will need to provide more information to identify the drivers you need. Most boards with Crystal chips don't use crystal drivers, so you need to look at the FCCID on the chip an match it up with the codes on this page:
http://www.windrivers.com/identity/sound/company/crystal.htm

From there, follow the corresponding link and get what you need.

I'd suspect that is some sort of control panel applet that is trying to load from the driver package. I'm assuming you have the drivers for the crystal audio, try pointing it to the directory where your crystal drivers are. The Driver16.cab is something I do not recognize, so I suspect that it's part of the driver package.

If this truely is a windows cab, try looking under c:\windows\options\cabs for the windows cab file. This is usually a common place for those to reside.

If anything, go to Crystal's site, and download the drivers from there and put them in one spot and use those instead of hunting for them on a cd.

If WIN98 SE has the same tools as WIN98 go to Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools, click on System information, when the window opens,go to tools and in the drop down menu, click on file checker and it will give you dialogue box to type in file to locate and from what source, have CD ready in drive and it will locate the file for you.
