Win 98 & Win 2 K in workgroup

by farooqui66 . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Hello,

I just set up a small workgroup network behind a cable router with two platforms running. The Win 98 box can see and transfer files to/from the Win 2 boxes but they cannot see the Win 98 machine. What did I do wrong? The router acts as my DHCP server and hands out the internal IP addresses so everyone can see (ping) the router but Win 2 K boxes cannot seem to get across it to the Win 98 boxes. TCP/IP protocols are set to dynamic IP. All boxes can get out to the internet so it does notseem to be a LAN/WAN issue within the router. So where did I mess up. Upgrading the Win98 box to Win 2 K is not an option because of proprietary apps that run in Win 98 only. Any pointers will be appreciated. If you need any other info, please post here or email me at farooqui@home.com.
