Win XP Home – USB Sony Mavica CD Camera

I ahve a Sony Mavica CD100 digital camera. It has an inbuilt CdR for picture storage. On Win98 you simply plugged it into the USB port on the PC and downloaded your pictures from a partially filled CD. It was like having another CD drive (G:)on the PC. Did not need to finalise the CD. When I changed to XP I get the message G:\ is not accessable Incorrect Function. If I finalise the Cd it reads it okay. However every time you finalise and then initilise to take more pictures it uses a largeamount of disck space. I have the Win XP service pack 1 installed.
How can I get the camera to work properly under XP.
