Win2000 Dial-up problem

by dweideman . Updated 23 years, 8 months ago

Hi there everyone

I have had a problem with Win2000 AS. Once installed, AD also installed, I have tried on numerous occations to connect to the internet through DIAL-UP.

The DIAL-UP connection will connect, give me a connection speed and thenwill not browse at all. I am able, however, to PING any IP address on the internet, even the FQDN’s of websites. Pinging seems not to be a problem and thus I am convinced that DNS (done by my ISP) is set up correctly (correct assumption?) Can Ping IP and WWW address.

The first time I have re-installed AS to find the problem solved. This time, on a new machine, fresh installation od Win2000 AS, I have the same problem.

Have anyone had such a problem? By the way, I have IE5.5 with the latest SP installed, Win2000 SP2 is also installed. I do run Windows Updates on a regular basis and install the necessary patches etc

Thank you for your time
