I created Projects, Admin & Safety Groups; set up a folder “Shared Data” whose share name is “Shared”. Then added one level of folders Projects, Admin and Safety. over the last 5 years I’ve had no trouble setting up the Profile tab for any user.
So, today I get 2 new users, create their user account in AD Users & Computers Manager, assign group membership; log them into their computers test network connectivity, logout, go back into User Properties, Profile tab, set the login script, set the Home bullet and network path:
\\mbr1\shared\projects\ and click Apply – BOOM!
The specified path is not valid. Enter a valid network path using the form: \\server\share\folder
If I just use \\mbr1\shared\ the User Home folder is created on the root of the Shared folder.
I can ping, access folders & files on mbr1 from either DC1 or DC2; the other users can all access their data structures “as advertized” it’s like AD just suddenly said NOPE, not gonna let you add to the second share nest any more.
Anyone have a clue as to what the screamin’ banshees just happened?
