Hi,
We used to have 2 different domains in our company. One domain is in NT4.0 and the other is Win2k. Win2k (DC) was demoted (using dcpromo)to join the existing NT4.0 domain…it is now a member server, all went well by the look of it. However, the following problems occured…
1) When I tried to set proxy in Internet Explorer settings, the settings was not saved. when I tried to click on “OK” button to save it…it just did not acknowledge the change, and if I click on “Cancel” then it will get back to the previous screen without saving. In addition, when I chose “classic view” in Windows Explorer, the settings was also not saved…it reverts back to the original settings before I tried to apply the change.
2) I want my existing NT4.0 PDC/BDC to assign IP address to all workstations in the Win2k environment (Win2k was assigning IP addresses when it was a DC). DHCP scope was has already been set for this on my BDC.howeve, it does not seem to work. Everytime, when I stop “DHCP server” service on the win2K server…staff in the Win2k environment was not able to log in after their IP lease has expired (logon authentication is taking place one NT4.0 PDC/BDC). As soo as I restart “DHCP server” service on Win2k and got the users to log off and log in again, then it worked. DHCP seems to work on Win2k instead of NT4.0 PDC/BDC as I wanted.
How do I get my NT4.0 BDC to do the job of assigning IP ?
any help on the following 2 problems would highly be appreciated.
Thank you in advance….for your help
