Win2K Event Log Disappears

By LIMiller ·
On one of our Win2K servers, viewing the application log causes the other logs to disappear from view!! I can view the other logs only once per try, as long as I don't start by viewing the app log, in which case I can't view any log. Also, for each access to the event viewer, I can only see a type of log (app, system) once. After that it disappears.

Any ideas on a cure for this will be appreciated!

event log disappears

Have you tried changing the "log size" to a smaller number in the log file properties? If the log is very large, it can take up a few minutes for it to be generated for you to view. Either make it smaller, or be more patient :)

have you tried

Have you tried connecting to the event system from another machine? But I agree with the above post, check your log size. I personally generally set my logs to 2048 (2mb) each and set them to over write as needed. Which is a good practice unless you need to retain the logs.
