win2k pro sound issues

By okorioth ·
I have a workstation with dual boot win98/win2k pro, everything works fine on it except the sound card. its an older Creative SB 16 isa card, its worked fine for years and still works in 98, but in windows 2000 it makes choppy audio. i know there are no hardware conflicts, i even changed the card out with another ess sound card and had the same problem, but both do work in 98. one extra clue is that it will not autodetect it, i had to tell win 2000 to go look for hardware changes, then it findsit. any suggestions?

if it is aa old ISA card, chances are that this card isn't PNP, did you visit Creative Labs to verify that this card is supported by Win2k?..

The first answer looks good to me. If that doesn't work, try something else. Hope this helps.
