Win2K Pro Upgrade didn't pick up Win98 P

By llee ·
I recently updated my laptop from Win98 to Win200Pro. For some reason it treated it like a new install vs. an upgrade and didn't pick up any of my Win98 installed programs, etc. They are all still there, including all my data files but Win2k isn'trecognizing them. Any easy fix?

The basic fix will be to reinstall the programs, this is typical of some programs during an upgrade.

If you ran Win2K setup from within Win98 you should have been given a choice of performing an upgrade or installing a new copy of Win 2K. Performing the upgrade would have migrated all your installed programs over to Win2K unles there was a known compatibility problem with a given piece of software.
Sounds like you chose to either install a new copy, or you ran setup by booting from the Win2K CD or from the Win2K boot floppies.
Whatever happened, unfortunately, at this point you don't haveany choice except to reinstall your programs.
