win2K RESETS fsb & CPU speed to 50%

using several sys diag utils,
confirmed that a new win 2k pro install
has reset my front sid bus & cpu speeds to 50%
of there previous speed settings using Asus P5a-b mobo!

Original win98 install had fsb at 100mhz & cpu at 420Mhz
New install re-sets the FSB speed to 53 Mhz & CPU to 210.

How the hell?
Ever heard of this
Can regedit address these system timings screwups?
