I am helping a school become Internet connected. They have a Dlink DSL504 router and this is connecting fine to the Internet via a laptop. Problem is that when I connect the router to a W2K DC, the NIC it is connected to will not get its IP address from the router. Server setup is as follows: 2 NICs one serving existing W98/2K clients with static IP of 10.0.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0 and issuing IP?s. Second NIC until now unused shows 0.0.0.0 in ipconfig. Renewing gives error message “An internal error has occurred. Reinstall or reboot”. Device manager reports all is well and a replacement NIC produces the same error. If I set a manual IP it will not communicate with the router’s web mgmt page. In the DHCP console tree the server icon shows ictserver.ict.local[192.168.0.2] which was the manual address I tried. DHCP was bound to both adapters but I have unbound the miscreant. RRAS is not started as yet. Help! Thanks.
