Win2kPro - Netlogon service not starting

By BreakfastOfChampions ·
NT4 Domain with mix of NT4 + Win2kPro clients.
Win2kPro (SP1) clients have Netlogon service set to startup automatically, but the service refuses to start - this means that logon scripts aren't being processed and roaming profiles aren't being updated.
I have tried to set the service to restart on 1st, 2nd + 3rd failure to no avail.
Can anyone suggest a permanent remedy?

Have you tried updating to SP2 as that resolved most of our problems in our mixed domain

Win2kPro - Netlogon service not starting

We have subsequently tracked down the problem:
The Wingate Client (v4.50) had broken DHCP on NT4 Workstation clients and Netlogon service on the Win2kPro clients.
My recommendation to anyone who is considering deploying the Wingate client is to avoid doing so at all costs! Apparently the Java applet is a sounder approach.
