By Br3nno360 ·
I have setup a laptop that automatically logs in to a restricted user, this user only has access to 2 vpn shortcuts on the desktop,
i need to login as administrator to change some settings but i cant- i had done some registry edits before and the hold shift on bootup was working, now when i need to get in its not.

any ideas?

boot up with UBCD4win and edit the registry

i think you best bet is to either boot in safe mode or use somthing like UBCD4win, and remove the registry entries you put in or double check them to ensure there correct.
you may want to enable RDP on that box so you can rdp to it, at that point you can log off the restricted user and login as the admin.

What you are trying to do is execute regedt32.exe RunAs Administrator.

Hold the shift key and right click on anything you want to run as the administrator. You can then type in a username and password of any other account you want to use.

If there are a number of things you want to do as the admin I find it easy to run explorer.exe or cmd.exe as admin. This way everything I run from the explorer or the command prompt also runs as the admin account it was created from.

No need to reboot or even log out. You can do this while anyone is logged in.
