Win98 Splash Screen

By dbechtel ·
How do you restore the Win98 splash screen? The screen that shows the MS logo and clouds while drivers load? It was replaced by 3rd party software and I want to restore it to it's original state ( 3rd party software has been deleted and the disk is lost).

Splash Screen

I remember in Win95 it was c:\windows\logow.sys.
and c:\windows\logos.sys is shutdown.
I'm thinking that if you deleted (or renamed) logow.sys it would automatically recreate on the next startup. Not sure, check it out. Jeff

You have to delete this file. It's a hidden, system file in the root of C:. Win 98 doesn't need because its already in the software. If it finds it, a c:\logo.sys file will be used instead of the default, as long as it's 320 x 400, 256 colors and marked hidden, system. The others (logo*.sys) in c:\windows are for shut-down.
