I would like to find out how do I enable Win98 user policies from a Win2K Server.

What are the things that I need to do?

Group Policy in AD only works with win2k. Even if you have the AD client loaded on you 98 box. For 98 policies to work, you need to create the policies with poledit and keep the config.pol in the folder that your NETLOGON share points to on your 2k DC's. In 2k (on a DC), it should be the \WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\domain-name.com\SCRIPTS folder. For NT policies, it is the same, except the file needed is the ntconfig.pol.

Thank you for your response.

Do you know how I can disable some of the options in the Control Panel/Settings folder? Does this mean I will need to set up a 'dummy' PC with a customized folders with minimal icons and identify this PC as the path to get the folders in my policy?

Would appreciate any advice or sites in which I can get further details on customizing the system policy and templates.

Best regards,
jtham
