how do i effectively uninstall window vista from an acer extensa 5220. i like 2 install window xp.

Start off with backing any data that you want to keep to another disk. Then run http://dban.sourceforge.net/ to wipe the hard disk. Then install XP. I have not dealt with Acer computers before so I can not say that you may or may not have to get creative with device drivers. Good luck!!

You don’t need to uninstall Vista before you install XP,
Do NOT wipe the hard drive clean before you install XP, if you do so you will also delete all the recovery files from the drive and you will not then be able to return the mchine to it’s factory condition should you ever want or need to do so.
Back up any data you want to keep.
Boot the machine from the XP disc, then use setup to delete the partition on the drive which has vista installed, then create a new partition for your XP installation.

Thanks friend. Yeah, i did just dat. D initial problem was d non-detection of d HD. i had 2 install d latest bios versin. thanks 2 acer.
