Windows 10 fresh installation??

Hi all,
I have just bought a laptop and it has Windows 10 pre-installed. The problem is that it is all in German. I cannot change the language. Would downloading windows 10 onto a USB stick from my old laptop and installing it on the new one, solve my issue???

Usually, as far as I remember, pre-installed versions of Windows start with asking which language to use. Either yours didn’t, or you overlooked the question.

The 2 options you have:
1. See if you can install the English language pack, as discussed in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/language-packs-for-windows-a5094319-a92d-18de-5b53-1cfc697cfca8 .You might need a device to run Google Translate or so to help you understand enough of the current German to logon, go into the Windows 10 settings app and choose the language to install. If this doesn’t give the desired results, there’s option 2.
2. Download the Windows 10 (or 11, which should be work on a new laptop) install disk or USB-stick, and do a totally fresh install. Be sure you can download all needed device drivers. The installed ones don’t survive the fresh install.

just go into the start and change the language from there,. there is no need to change window, just change the language

Hei there,

I’d recommend checking on google translate to see how to do it.
Open Settings > type “Spracheinstellungen” aka”Language settings”> 3rd icon “Regionales Format” aka” Regional format”> and from there select Your Country, first box, and your language, second box.
