    Windows 10 running extremely slow on my computer

    I recently updated my Windows 10 operating system and now my computer is running extremely slow. Programs take forever to open and my cursor freezes frequently. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?

      What version of MS Windows did you update it from? How old is the computer?

      If this PC has a HDD (hard disk drive), owners are often amazed at how slow a Windows OS can be. There is no plan to fix this. You must replace the HDD with a SSD (solid state drive) or consider a new PC.

      An alternative would be to run Linux which doesn’t mean you must learn Linux. Most folk use the PC to run Chrome so Linux does that very well.

      It’s very unclear what exactly that update was. Going from Windows XP to Windows 10 is quite something else as performing the regular monthly Windows Update.

      And, of course, it can be caused by malware or defective hardware.

      If this is happening, close any apps, browser tabs, etc., that you don’t need and see if that helps speed up your PC. If it doesn’t seem to help, restart your PC and then open just the apps, programs and browser windows you need.
