Windows 11 Upgrade Stuck on Restart – Safe to Force Shutdown?

I recently attempted to upgrade a client system from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The upgrade process seemed to go smoothly until the final stage – it’s been stuck on the “Restarting” screen for over 10 hours. I even left it overnight, but there’s been no change.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue where the system freezes at restart during upgrade?
Here’s what I’d like to know:
Is it safe to force shutdown the system at this point?
Could this be due to hardware compatibility or missing drivers?
Would using Windows 11 Installation Media be a better route?
Any experiences or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

It seems you have no other option than a forced shutdown. Then try a restart again. If no luck, there is not much more you can do than booting from the recovery drive you made or a Windows 11 install medium.

While I’d restart and try again let’s share more detail. Machines with HDDs (hard disk drives) are experiencing long updates. Some go past 24 hours.
