Windows 2000 as backup server

By thinknologist ·
How to design a backup server using Windows 2000 Advance Server.

I have a Primary Domain Controller using Windows 2000 Server. As a disaster ready project, backing up another server would not delay office operation.

Please advise also if you have other options into this matter.

w2k uses peer domain controllers

If you only have one w2k server it is probably not a PDC and what you have to do is run dcpromo and replicate the AD and use whatever BU software you want. Then if one goes down, users can still log on and reach their info.

Actually though, I would encourage you to read up a lot on Active Directory and structure in a w2k enviroment. It is definately different than the PDC BDC days of NT.
