    Windows 2000 Domain Controller “lockouts”

    Locked

    by matt_sandoval_01 ·

    Hello,
Has anyone experienced having constant lockouts in a Windows 2000 environment? What my problem is that users will wait until the system prompts them to change their password and when they do, if they do, many times we have to change the password for them because they have been locked out in the middle of the day, the system locks them out continually at first logon for days. Has this happened to anyone else? We have no “good” way to clear it up, it usually clears itself up after a little bit of time, but ocassionaly not.

    Help if you can,
    Matt

You need to modify this configuration in the default domain policy if you want to change the lockout attempt number or the lockout duration.

      Win2K lockouts

We had a similar problem. We found after upgrading the domain to 2K, 9X users would be locked out of the network sporadically. It turned out that 9X has to send a password to reconnect network drives, the system sends this password hashed and it is not recognized by the server. This resulted in a user getting locked out when they attempted to connect to shared drives.
